We could not have asked for better fall weather – sunshine and the perfect temperature – for our annual Founder’s Day gathering on October 17.

The outside picnic, catered by one of our local customers, Alwan & Sons, was a delicious spread of pulled pork and pulled chicken, with a host of side dishes and sweets. 

Our President Mike Shrier shared some background with our team about Excalibur’s Founder, the late Jerry Hall, that you might not be aware. Mike unveiled a photo from 1952 of 18-year-old Jerry working at his father’s grocery store, Hall’s Food Market. We learned that Jerry expected to take over the family store someday, until his father abruptly sold it. This change in professional direction started Jerry down several paths that eventually would lead him to found Excalibur Seasoning in 1986.

The world would be much different if Jerry’s dad had not sold the store. Happy Founder’s Day, Excalibur Seasoning!
